Main Idea Lesson Series

At the end of this lesson I can become a better reader by finding the main idea and details of the text I read.
PERFORMANCE OBJECTIVE
To show your learning, you will be able to create and organize a short passage by its main idea and details using a graphic organizer as well as identify steps for how to find the main idea of a passage.
INSTRUCTIONAL-DESIGN OBJECTIVE
At the end of the lessons, students will learn and apply the knowledge of finding the main idea and details in a text or passage to be able to better comprehend the text students read. This goal is based on standard CCSS.ELA-LITERACY.RI.4.2 of the Common Core State Initiative Standards.
INSTRUCTIONAL-EVALUATION OBJECTIVE
To show that the lesson was successful for learners, students should be able to complete a graphic organizer with 80% accuracy as well as being able to identify at least two steps out of four on how to find the main idea and details of a text.
